Drug Test Warning

This is the page we'd want a friend to read before they walked out with their first hemp product.

The short version

Hemp-derived products can cause a positive result on standard drug tests. Even though they're federally legal as hemp, the lab equipment used in most workplace and roadside drug screens does not distinguish between hemp-derived cannabinoids and any other source.

Why that's true

Standard urine, hair, and saliva immunoassay tests look for THC metabolites. Hemp products that contain Delta-9 THC (including hemp-derived Delta-9 edibles, THCa flower that converts to Delta-9 when heated, Delta-8, and Delta-10) all produce metabolites that those tests can flag.

How long the metabolites stay detectable depends on dose, frequency of use, body composition, hydration, and the specific test. We cannot give you a number. We won't guess.

Who should consider this carefully

  • Employees subject to workplace drug testing.
  • Federal employees and contractors.
  • Commercial drivers (CDL holders).
  • Athletes subject to organization or league testing.
  • Anyone on probation or court-ordered testing.
  • Healthcare workers and others in safety-sensitive roles.
  • Anyone interviewing for a job that may require a pre-employment screen.

What about CBD-only products?

Pure CBD isolate products are less likely to cause a positive test than full-spectrum products, but no product carries a guarantee. Even broad-spectrum or "THC-free" labeled products can contain trace amounts that accumulate with regular use. If your test result matters, the safest choice is to abstain.

What we won't say

We will not tell you that hemp products are "safe" for drug tests. We will not tell you how long to wait before a screen. We will not recommend detox products. We don't sell those promises, because nobody can honestly make them.

What we will say

If a drug test is on your horizon, the most responsible move is to not use hemp products, talk to your employer about your situation if appropriate, and make your decision with eyes open. If you have a medical need that hemp products help with, a healthcare provider can advise on alternatives or accommodations.

One more thing

This warning isn't about discouraging customers. It's about respect. Adults can make informed decisions for themselves when they have the full picture. This page is the full picture.
